Romley endores Saban

This is pretty big news from the New Times. I think that Sheriff Joe is still safe, but it is interesting to see Rick Romley endorsing Saban for Maricopa County Sheriff. The state Republicans have a lot of internal conflict at the moment. You have primary challenges from the right in a couple of districts, activist Republicans not playing nice with Saint John McCain, a state Party Chair that much of the establishment hates, the fundies are going after the activist wing over employer sanctions and now Romley endorsing Saban.

There is still a lot of anger at Joe for giving Napolitano cover in 2002.

Mind posting links to stories on "primary challenges from the right in a couple of districts," "a state Party Chair that much of the establishment hates," and "the fundies are going after the activist wing over employer sanctions"? or are you able to elaborate with more material? I'm aware that the ARA has censured McCain; that District Chair Rob Haney has blasted McCain (GO ROB!!!); and that Arpaio is a corrupt scumbag that deserves to live in his own tent cities, wear his own pink underwear, and eat his own mash and green baloney; but I am unaware that Republicans are upset with the state chair (Pullen?). Thanks in advance for any info you can add and your time and effort.

I am not sure the "Republicans" are upset with the Chairman as much as the people that fund the party are upset with him. Both parties have activist wings that provide the boots on the ground and a group of people that fund the party (big donors). They are often at odds. Fortunately for Democrats, we have been able to do a lot of fundraising through small donors on the blogs, but I think that has more to do with frustration and being out of power for a longtime. Like a mentioned in one of the post above, the Republicans both in the state and nationally are going through the sorts of changes that parties go through ever so often. Look at the Religious Right and their dissatisfaction with Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney. The Republican coalition will go through a realignment win or lose.
